New York City’s Applied Sciences Initiative offered a graduate engineering school $100 million and a long term ground lease on Roosevelt Island. A RFP was created, a competitive process was developed, and a ground lease and development agreement were negotiated. Cornell Tech will be a 2 million square feet when fully built and currently includes academic and commercial space as well as a hotel and residences.
